TSD Medium Thermal Shock Chambers

Large capacity, small footprint

ESPEC developed the TSD-101-W with an interior of 28"x16", while strictly limiting the overall size of the system. The footprint is reduced by 40%, as well as lowering power demand by 60% compared to conventional units.

The TSD-101-W has been upgraded to our latest touch-screen controller, which includes a 7" screen and Ethernet access. Uploading/downloading of programs and data can be accomplished over your network.

The TSD includes a unique feature called Specimen Temperature Trigger (STT). This STT function actively monitors the temperature of the product and only advances the program to the next step once the product has reached the desired temperature. The STT dynamically reduces the overall testing time by adjusting the soak period according to how much product is being tested.

Features

  • flexible cabling tube (for monitoring or powering samples) that comes out the side, rather than a moving pipe that sticks out the top.
  • cool-down mode allows the operator to safely remove the samples quickly after a test is completed.
  • An option for a window makes checking on the samples easier.

Site requirements:

  • Main Power: North American standard 208V (alternate international power: 200V, 220V, 380V, or 415V)
  • Cooling water supply
  • Quiet operation with sound levels below 65dB

Available options:

  • Paperless recorder with color display and CompactFlash storage
  • Strip chart recorder
  • Computer interface (IEEE-488 or RS-232)
  • Viewing window
  • Additional STT thermocouple inputs
  • Additional flexible cable tube

TSA (two/three-zone) Thermal Shock Chambers

Hot-cold or hot-ambient-cold tests possible

New: Now with USB and Ethernet access standard

Traditional three-zone thermal shock chambers can be quite large, as three separate chambers are used. The TSA series has just one chamber, substantially reducing its size. Instead, it circulates cold, hot, or ambient air as needed. The conditioned air is pre-cooled or pre-heated beyond the setpoint, allowing quicker recovery of the desired condition after transfer.

New Eco-Mode is standard for all models. Eco-mode manages the pre-conditioning and modulates refrigeration systems to reduce energy usage. Savings of up to 50% over previous models is possible, or as much as $2,000 a year.

  • "EL" models are lower cost models with only two-zone capability, lower performance, and partial savings of Eco-mode.
  • "ES" models have higher performance, three-zone capability, and larger heating/cooling performance that fully benefits from Eco-mode innovations.
  • The TSA-73EH-W is configured especially to meet the popular Mil-Std 883 1010 method, from -65 to 150°C.

1000 cycles without defrosting?

The new TSA models have a new patent-pending option that allows them to do thermal shock testing for 1000 cycles (or 500 hours) without needing a defrost step. This can save significant test time (other chambers may need defrost every 20-100 cycles), as well as saving additional energy.

Features

  • Test samples don't move
  • Horizontal airflow design assures uniform results
  • Extremely compact systems with a vertically sliding door for added space savings
  • Utilizes the latest refrigeration technology: electronic expansion valve and scroll compressor

ESPEC’s Exclusive Touch-Screen Programmer:

  • NEW: USB and Ethernet interfaces
  • User-friendly touch-screen operation with large 9" color display
  • Store 40 two-zone or three-zone test programs
    • Programs may be written on a PC and uploaded via USB
  • The trend-graph display shows a record of setpoints and actual values
    • Operation data can be downloaded as needed, or continually, to USB
  • Two time signal relays for automated on/off control of test devices/samples
  • System alarms are stored in memory for historical review
  • Built-in timer functions allow the chamber to be started or shut down automatically

TSB Liquid Thermal Shock Chambers

Significant reductions in fluid usage make liquid thermal shock affordable

Purchasing a liquid thermal shock chamber needs close consideration of the long term operating costs. The specialized liquids used can easily evaporate, causing the loss of thousands of dollars of fluid per year, if not properly contained. Liquid-to-liquid thermal shock testing is typically conducted to apply very strong, repetitive thermal stress to test pieces. It can model a product's ability to withstand thermally-induced size changes, crack resistance, hermetic integrity, and changes in electrical properties. This form of testing provides a very rapid temperature shock recovery of conditions, and it can significantly reduce testing time by requiring shorter soaks and less cycles. The TSB thermal shock chambers have been built to meet the demanding test requirements of Mil-Std 883 method 1011.9, which has become a defacto industrial standard for semiconductor devices.

Serious cost savings

ESPEC has led the industry in developing a sophisticated test chamber with multiple mechanisms to significantly reduce fluid usage. The new TSB-51 loses just 1.4 grams per test cycle, or less than a liter of fluid per 1,000 cycle test. The recovery system reduces fluid loss through enhanced airtightness, preventing leakage of evaporated thermal fluid from the test area. A fan draws air to a condensing coil that turns evaporated fluid into a liquid, returning it to the baths. The units also include a separation filter for removing water from the thermal fluid. A refrigerated cooling ring at the top of the hot bath helps limit evaporative losses.

Easy to use, too

The TSB models have also includes our SCP-220TS touch-screen controller, making operation clear and easy.

Features

  • Multiple mechanisms for reduction of fluid losses
    • Automatic shutters at bath inlets
    • Condensation pipe at the top rim of the high-temp bath
    • Vapor recycling unit in the transfer area
  • Designed for single (Galden) & dual-fluid (Fluorinert) use
  • Easily located, requires only electric power hook-up
  • Low noise of only 65 dBa
  • SCP-220TS touch-screen controller

TCC Rapid-Rate Cycling Chambers

Designed for quick changes in specimen temperature

Through simulation of wind volume and wind speed, TCC-150 can minimize specimen temperature variations, enabling more accurate quick temperature change testing. For specimen temperature, the ramp rate is 15°C/min. For air temperature, the ramp rate is 23°C/min (temperature heat-up average).

To maintain a constant temperature change rate for test specimens, the TCC-150 uses a sensor (positioned by the user)for specimen temperature measurement, and a newly-developed high-speed controller that enables highly precise specimen temperature control. This controller enables measurement and control processing at a higher speed than conventional controllers.

Features

  • Large-volume test area The test area can contain up to sixty substrates, when set vertically
  • Easy wiring access Clear cabinet sides allow easy access for specimen measurement
  • Cable ports are provided on the right as well as left sides of the chamber
  • Door hinge with self-closing prevention

Site requirements:

  • Main Power: North American standard 208V (alternate international power: 200V, 220V, 380V, or 400V)
  • Cooling water supply
  • Quiet operation with sound levels below 65dB
